Gift-giving is one of the good manners that maintains and strengthens relations between the giver and the recipient. It is one of the acts that Prophet Muhammad (peace & blessings be upon him) recommended us Muslims to do.
Narrated that Aishah (RadiAllahu Anha) said: "The Messenger of Allah Prophet Hazrat Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam (peace & blessings of Allah be upon him) used to accept gifts and reward people for giving them."

Abu Huraira reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, "Give each other gifts and you will love each other."

'Ā'ishah (RA) reported, The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allāh be on him, said:
"Give gifts to one another, for gifts take away rancour."
The Prophet Hazrat Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam (peace & blessings of Allah be upon him) said ,Whoever does you a favor, respond in kind, and if you cannot find the means of doing so, then keep praying for him until you think that you have responded in kind.

Narrated that Usaamah Ibn Zayd(RadiAllahu Anhu) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: Whoever has a favor done for him and says 'Jazaak Allaahu khayran' has done his utmost to thank him.

A'ishah (RadiAllahu Anha) said, "O Allah's Apostle! I have two neighbors; which of them should I give a gift to?" The Prophet Hazrat Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam (peace & blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "(Give) to the one whose door is nearer to you."

Al-Numaan ibn Basheer (RadiAllahu Anhu) said that his father brought him to the Prophet Hazrat Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam (peace & blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “I have given this son of mine a slave who used to belong to me.†The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, Have you given a similar gift to all of your children? He said, No. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, Then take (your gift) back.

Abn Hurairah(RadiAllahu Anhu) reported, The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be on him), said, "O Muslim women! Let not a neighbor despise for her neighbor (a gift), even though it be the trotters of a goat."

Ibn Abbās(RadiAllahu Anhu) said, The Prophet Hazrat Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam (peace & blessings of Allah be upon him), said: "The man who takes back what he has gifted is like one who returns to his vomit."
